Biography
Tom Penn (Curzon) is a London-based actor, clown, multi-instrumentalist, composer, and workshop facilitator. After earning a BA in English Literature from Oxford, he trained at École Philippe Gaulier. A highly physical performer and gifted improviser, he has won awards and 5-star reviews for his clowning.
As a composer, Tom scored the BFI-selected BBC Comedy Short Quiet Life (dir. Ruth Pickett) and Sam Nicoresti's comedy special Wokeflake. In 2023, he wrote the score for Santi and Naz, The Thelma’s Charlie Hartill award-winning play, which ran at Soho Theatre in January 2025. His music is available on all major streaming platforms. Tom recently toured as a keyboard and bass player in Oedipus Electronica with Pecho Mama. Everything Theatre wrote "their mix of electronics and increasingly ingenious double bass techniques are such an asset. It’s tempting to just watch them throughout. The music is gripping and all-encompassing." In Spring 2024, he collaborated with Mella Faye and Emily Levy on Me Without You (Arts Council England, Snape Maltings). He is currently developing a One Man Band for On Your Bike Baffo! (supported by ACE England, touring UK in 2025). Upcoming projects include The Dark is Green (Edinburgh Fringe 2026) and Womb (a clown double act with Julie Nesher). Tom also teaches acting and clowning at leading drama schools, including ArtsEd, St. Mary's University Twickenham, and Drama Studio London. |
